The Church of Huautla
His grief stricken father and brother's kept saying, "You are going to get us killed!" He replied, "Mother spoke the truth to us but we did not listen. She told me to do this and to serve Jesus."

The Church of Huautla
Bro. Cosme lives in a village named Huautla, which means "as an eagle" in the Nahuatl language, with his 5 sons and 1 daughter. A few years ago his wife, Ilaria, became very ill. The doctors in the town nearest them sent her to the government hospital in Mexico City for tests. Ilaria was diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer and received treatment there for several months. During that time, a Christian minister began visiting her hospital room. Ilaria had never heard the Gospel- and she was quickly interested in the beauty and simplicity of God, His love, and His forgiveness. The minister read to her from the Bible and prayed for her healing. Ilaria accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. When the doctors could no longer help her medically, she was sent home to be with her family. Her husband and children immediately began buying more idols and burning candles 24 hours a day for her healing. Her sons tell us how their mother would daily tell them, from where she lay, to stop praying to false images and to cry out to Jesus! She told them that "the virgin and the saints are neither our savior or our healer! You need to repent and ask Jesus to live in you!" One day Ilaria closed her eyes and went to be with Jesus. Her son, Beto, then began grabbing the candles and idols that were around her bed and threw them into a pile outside. He then smashed and burned them. His grief stricken father and brother's kept saying, "You are going to get us killed!" He replied, "Mother spoke the truth to us but we did not listen. She told me to do this and to serve Jesus." A women from their village was married to a brother in Palzoquitla, where we have a strong body of believers. Through them Galdino, the eldest son, came to Jesus. Shortly after, his father and brother's, and sister also came to Jesus. We now have a church there in Huautla. Thank You Jesus!
